Come and welcome Fr. Ramon tomorrow at St. Andrew's!
Please come on February 5th to meet and welcome Father Ramón Aymerich to St. Andrew's. If we can work out the details, hopefully he will be with us for awhile as our "priest in charge". Come worship with us on Sundays at 10:30 am. FATHER RAMON AYMERICH The Rev. Ramón Aymerich was born in Cuba July 5, 1948. In 1963, his parents sent him to a boarding school in Puerto Rico so he could escape the Communist country. In 1966, he and his parents and siblings were reunited and settled in Buffalo, N.Y. Ramon was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood in 1975, and in 1982, after some very serious soul-searching, he became an Episcopalian and was received as a priest in the Episcopal Church after a year of Anglican Studies at General Seminary in NYC. He has served in four dioceses: Bethlehem, Southeast Florida, Massachusetts and Newark. He is fluent in Spanish, English, Italian and French and loves to travel, particularly to the Middle East and Italy. He enjoys cooking, photography, bicycling and facilitating Bible Study. He is also retired from the US Air Force, where he served as a chaplain for 24 years. In 2009 he decided to retire from full time ministry so that he could dedicate more time to his mother, Josefina. In October 2010, he purchased a home in Matthews where he and his mother now live. He is licensed to officiate in the Diocese of North Carolina. He presently leads the worship service in Spanish every Sunday evening at Holy Comforter in Charlotte. He also volunteers at the Charlotte Airport USO facilitating a home away from home to the servicemen and women who travel through the Charlotte area on their way to other destinations.
